Tara Harris

Tara Harris is a contemporary intuitive artist whose work explores the mystical intersections of memory, time, and place. Her dreamlike landscapes are deeply rooted in personal experience, often drawing from the emotional terrain of remembered and imagined environments. Her intuitive approach allows subconscious narratives to emerge through layered textures and ethereal colour palettes, creating atmospheric works that invite quiet reflection and connection. Harris studied Fine Art at Newcastle upon Tyne, graduating in 1991 with a specialism in printmaking. She went on to complete a PGCE in Education in 1993, where she became a passionate advocate for creativity in the classroom. Her dedication to arts education has earned her several Arts Council awards, highlighting her role in promoting artistic expression across educational settings.
Since 2024, Harris has actively exhibited in group shows, including notable venues such as the Royal Cambrian Academy and Royal Birmingham Society of Arts. She is recently presented her first solo exhibition at Nook Studios in Kings Heath, Birmingham. Her work has been included in several group exhibitions: Belongings and Surreal Solihull at the Courtyard Gallery; Ascent of Man in Stockbridge; Edinburgh Eastside Projects Summer Show; Birmingham, Birmingham Open in Victoria Square, Birmingham; and the Summer Exhibition at Coventry and Warwick University Hospital. Harris received an International Artist Award from Arts to Hearts Project and is featured in their publications Artists on the Rise and Time and Memory and 002 Artists to Watch. Her work has also appeared in Other Worlds magazine by Collect and Under My Skin by Backtick. Tara’s art work and interview are included in the 11th edition of Art Seen. – an international magazine featuring contemporary artists. Her work has been chosen as Painting of the Day by Paint Britain twice and she was awarded third prize in Sanja (China) Tropical City International Art Competition. Tara Harris continues to explore new ways of expressing the ephemeral through her art, establishing herself as a distinctive and thoughtful voice in contemporary painting.
